Days after teasing its most ambitious Edge phone yet, Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Max will launch in India on July 15. The announcement came through the phone's dedicated Flipkart microsite, which also revealed several key specifications ahead of launch. The Edge 70 Max will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and feature a Quad HD+ LTPO display, a 7,100mAh battery, and magnetic wireless charging, positioning it as the most powerful phone in the Edge 70 lineup so far.
Before getting to the hardware, Motorola appears to be moving away from the curved-edge design used across the rest of the series. The official teasers show flat sides and a squarish camera module, along with an aluminium frame and a glass back for a more premium in-hand feel.
Motorola confirms the Edge 70 Max runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the same chipset found on the Motorola Signature and rivals like the OnePlus 15R and iQOO 15R. The brand claims the chip can hit an AnTuTu score of over 3 million, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Motorola has also confirmed a 5,000mm² vapour chamber cooling system to manage sustained performance during gaming.
On the display, Motorola is positioning the Edge 70 Max as a segment-first with a Quad HD+ 10-bit LTPO AMOLED panel, rated for 120fps BGMI gameplay. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 colour, and up to 7,000 nits of peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Motorola claims a 95.12 percent screen-to-body ratio thanks to thin bezels around a centred punch-hole camera.
Camera details remain only partly confirmed. The teasers show a triple rear camera module, though Motorola has not disclosed sensor details officially. Some leaked material points to a 50MP Sony LYT-710 primary sensor, but that remains unconfirmed by the brand itself.
Battery life is rated at 7,100mAh, backed by 90W TurboPower wired charging. Motorola is also promoting what it calls the segment's only fast magnetic wireless charging, following a Wireless Power Consortium listing that confirms Qi2.2.1 certification with 25W support.
The Edge 70 Max will run Motorola's latest HelloUI, which the brand says brings AI features including its Qira assistant for real-time translation, summarisation, and photo editing.
Motorola has not revealed pricing yet. Going by the brand's history of competitive pricing and the Edge 70 Pro+ starting at Rs 47,999, the Edge 70 Max is expected to be positioned somewhere above that. The phone goes on sale via Flipkart and Motorola's India website starting July 15.
